Supporting New Graduate Nurses
This 12-month accredited evidenced-based program is designed to give you foundational tools, resources, competence, and confidence that will carry you throughout your nursing career.
Program objectives:
- Bridge gaps in the transition from nursing school to professional practice
- Program meets monthly, providing a dynamic and supportive learning environment
- Incorporates evidence-based practice into patient care and clinical decision making
- Develop professional communication strategies for collaborative practice
- 1:1 mentorship and support from program facilitator
Accredited with Distinction
Greater Baltimore Medical Center is accredited with distinction as a Practice Transition Program by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation in Practice Transition Programs. Greater Baltimore Medical Center Nurse Residency Program at Greater Baltimore Medical Center is recognized by the ANCC Practice Transition Accreditation Program® (PTAP) as an Industry-Recognized Apprenticeship Program (IRAP).
About Our Program
Supporting the professional development of new graduate nurses, the program is facilitated by expert nurses to include:
- The triad of success includes mentoring and support which encompasses nurse residency coordinator, education specialist and unit leadership
- Nurse residents will meet once a month for the first year
- Nurse residents will complete an evidenced-based performance improvement project, partnering with unit leadership and hospital stakeholders
- GBMC is a member of the Maryland Nurse Residency Collaborative, a statewide program aimed at providing best practice and a standardized approach to nurse residents
