Postpartum Care Unit at GBMC
GBMC's postpartum care is focused on the comfort of the mothers and their families.
The Postpartum Staff provide Nursing care for Vaginal and Cesarean Section delivered patients. GBMC offers numerous levels of care for our newborn babies including a Level III NICU, Special Care nursery and Newborn Nursery. At times, your care team may decide your baby needs more focused care or transitional time in one of our three well equipped baby care units. This will be discussed with you and your designated support team. Our Newborn Nursery provides essential interim infant care during your Postpartum stay.
GBMC continues to provide the greatest level of care and fosters an in-home approach, “rooming-in”, with your newborn during your stay. Newborn care, delayed bedside baths, feeding support, and education are all provided in the comfort of your private room. Rooming-in with baby during your recovery supports navigating both your needs and the needs of the baby once you are discharged.
Patients with complications such as: Diabetes, Postpartum Hemorrhage, Hypertension and or pre-existing Medical or Surgical conditions may also be cared for on the Postpartum Units.
