Having a baby is a joy unlike any other. However, with the excitement of an impending birth, many women may also have some anxiety about coping with the postpartum period. To help new mothers and families, GBMC offers extended support through its Doula Touch Program. Postpartum doulas provide non-medical support after delivery with services such as:
- Breastfeeding support
- Emotional support
- Errand runs
- Home organization
- Infant care
- Laundry
- Light housekeeping
- Meal preparation
- Nursery organization
- Safety tips
- Sibling care
- Transportation
Postpartum doula care is an ideal solution for new mothers on bed rest, new mothers with other children and new mothers overwhelmed with the process of creating a sense of balance and organization during the recovery period. GBMC’s trained doulas offer a wealth of experience in establishing sleep and feeding schedules as well as educating parents and families about infant care and safety techniques. Daytime and overnight care is available in an effort to help new parents catch up on sleep.
The GBMC Doula Program is a fee-based service. Doulas are trained by GBMC. Early registration is recommended. To register for doula services or request information by mail please call the "Doula Touch" program at (443) 849-6287 or send and email to mdowell@gbmc.org.
