Women are often the caregivers of their family, which means sometimes they put themselves last.

Gynecological cancers are preventable with screenings and vaccines. But first, women have to understand their bodies and feel comfortable advocating for themselves in the exam room.

"By creating space for women to look at and talk about their bodies openly, they will feel empowered to take better care of themselves on every level," Fong Liu, MD, MPH, gynecological oncologist at the Sandra and Malcolm Berman Cancer Institute at GBMC, said. "It hasn't been made okay to talk about these things. It is my mission to make it okay for women."

"Dr. Liu took a scary and overwhelming process and made it easier. She was very detailed and supportive, even on the days when I felt defeated," Rachquel Bellot, a former patient, said.

We're more than just healthcare providers. We're your team. At GBMC, we face cancer, together.
