GBMC ranks as one of the busiest labor and delivery units in Maryland and our state-of-the-art labor & delivery suite provides obstetrical care for adult and adolescent women 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The birthing suite consists of:
- 4 triage rooms
- 17 beautiful birthing rooms
- 3 operating rooms
- 5-bed PACU
The Labor & Delivery Team includes a dedicated staff of:
- Registered Nurses
- Advanced practitioners
- OB Physician attending
- OB/Surgical Technicians
Birthing room amenities include:
- Soft natural lighting and low sound design
- Private bathroom
- Comfortable sofa that converts to a sleeping space for your significant other
- Flat screen television
- Wireless Internet access
- Side-rail patient bed control pendant for the TV, lights and bed
- A patient information board is provided that includes the names of your care-team and pertinent telephone numbers for your convenience

Dr. Khouzami is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and maternal-fetal medicine. He received his medical degree from American University, Beirut, completed his residency at GBMC and his fellowship at Johns Hopkins University.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where should I go when I am in labor?
You will enter GBMC from Charles Street and take your first left turn. The first entrance on the right-hand side it the OB drop entrance. Patients in labor should come to the Obstetrics entrance and proceed to the OB admitting desk located through the OB Atrium on the second floor of the hospital. Vehicles dropping off patients in labor may temporarily park in specially marked parking spaces near the Obstetrics entrance. This is a drop-off location only and parking violations are placed on cars that do not display approved parking passes.
Where should I park?
GBMC offers fee for service valet parking from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, except for holidays or during adverse weather conditions. The fee for valet service is $8.00 cash only. Keys are kept at the OB Lobby Security Desk. Self parking is available in the Lily parking garage adjacent to Emergency Department.
Can I get a parking discount?
Yes, there are several options available for your convenience, including: weekly passes and coupon books.
Passes are sold in Radiation Oncology, The Corner Shop, The Boutique, General Operating Room Admitting, and Patient Support Services.
How many visitors can I have during labor and delivery?

What kinds of things should I pack in my overnight bag?
Some common items include:
- Photo ID
- Insurance Card and Other Information

- Diversions, such as cards, games, or book
