Meet Your Leaders: 2018 PAC Co-Chairs
December 4, 2017Heather Chilcot and Alexis "Lucky" Thompson (pictured in the center above) thought they were too busy to say "yes" to another volunteer commitment. But, despite their seemingly endless work, family and volunteer activities, the two friends agreed to co-chair the Parents Advisory Council because they were so grateful for the care their family received at GBMC.
"My daughter Gracie (age 7) fell two years ago and broke her wrist," Heather said. "The GBMC emergency room team was incredibly kind and patient during the ordeal. I am sure a broken wrist is routine to them, but I was so upset. They made it so much easier."
"My daughters, Winnie and Taylor, were both born at GBMC," Lucky said. "During these two moments – the most important in my life – GBMC was there for me and made the delivery of my girls smooth and calm."
The Parents Advisory Council (PAC) brings together like-minded young parents who have had a direct experience with GBMC's maternal, newborn or pediatric services. In gratitude, members give back to GBMC programs that benefit children. As a group, they enjoy high-energy special events and networking with others as well as periodic meetings to learn about services in need of support.
The PAC has bridged the gap between wanting to give back and not always having the time to do so. It allows members to honor demanding family and work priorities while also giving back in a significant way.
Since 2010, the PAC has awarded more than $220,000 to worthy GBMC programs. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact Rachel Ladenson, GBMC Philanthropy, at 443-849-3765 or rladenson@gbmc.org
