Performance Improvement and Innovation

Rewards and Recognition Program

WHAT:

The purpose of the GBMC Reward and Recognition Currency, Systems Change, is to formally acknowledge both individuals and teams for behaviors and skills that contribute to the spirit of continuous improvement, teamwork, patient safety, and embodying GBMC's GREATER behaviors, mission, vision, and values.

Systems Change coined its name because the program is designed to empower and broadly recognize the workforce for their dedication and contributions to changing our system in positive ways through innovation, collaboration, and compassion. The "change" in Systems Change not only refers to these positive impacts, but also the coin that is earned by individuals or teams representing the positive impacts that they have made. Coins earned accumulate in a central location and teams are incentivized with rewards once a threshold has been met.

CURRENT DEPARTMENTS PARTICIPATING IN THIS PROGRAM:

  • Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
  • Emergency Department (ED)
  • Pediatric Department
  • Nutrition Services
  • Environmental Services (EVS)
  • Radiology
  • Services Response Center & Transport

INCENTIVES:

Once departments earn a certain number of coins through demonstrating their commitment to continuous improvement, the team celebrates their accomplishment by selecting an incentive. The incentive possibilities are endless and can range from GBMC branded apparel, to a delicious catered meal, to a visit from adorable therapy dogs.

The Emergency and Pediatric Department
The Emergency and Pediatric department have worked hard to earn enough coins to fill the tube on their Systems Change Tracker board. The team selected department branded beanies to celebrate this achievement! Hats off to them!
