Frequently Asked Questions

Where can we go to get some individual counseling to help us cope with a cancer diagnosis and inherent life changes?

At GBMC's Oncology Support Services, patients and their families can take advantage of free individual and/or family counseling. Through the same department, we can put you in touch with other resource opportunities, such as Hopewell Cancer Support and the American Cancer Society.

What is the Patient Resource Navigator?

When you start your treatment, you will meet with our Patient Resource Navigator, who will do a basic assessment of your needs and make appropriate referrals for resources.

I've completed my cancer treatment, but am struggling with living with my "new normal." Is there anyone that can help me?

Yes, call Oncology Support Services and ask to speak to the RN Survivorship Coordinator, who can help you on your new path. Visit our Survivorship Program to find out more.

Are there other services provided not directly oncology-patient related?

We offer low-cost and free screening programs year-round, including skin, prostate, lung and oral screenings. Call us at 443-849-2961 for more information.
