Elisabeth M Carr, MD

Dr. Elisabeth Carr is Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency as well as a practicing Pulmonary and Critical Care physician. She has substantial clinical as well as leadership experience in graduate medical education. She is a graduate of New York Medical College (1998) and was elected to the honors society Aloha Omega Alpha (AOA). She completed her residency and fellowship training at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. She stayed on as faculty in the division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine where she developed interest in the impact of autoimmune diseases on the lungs. She developed further interest in Sarcoidosis and has developed a large practice here at GBMC.

At Jefferson, she was an assistant program director before moving to Salt Lake City where she joined the faculty of the University of Utah. She was core faculty for the medical school. She moved to Baltimore in 2015 where she joined us here in Pulmonary Medicine and in the Intensive Care Unit. She joined the Internal Medicine Residency as Associate Program Director in January of 2020 and became Program Director July 1, 2020. She is thrilled to work with her team and the Chairman, Dr. Melvin Blanchard, to create a 'Best in Class' IM Residency with a strong national reputation in Patient Safety and Quality.
