David P Buchalter, MD

Board-certified in orthopedic surgery, Dr. Buchalter subspecializes in sports medicine and offers patients the most current minimally invasive surgical techniques. Dr. Buchalter's surgical practice focuses on both arthroscopic and minimally invasive reconstructions of the shoulder, knee and hip. He offers arthroscopic repair of rotator cuff tears, arthroscopic shoulder stabilizations and labral reconstructions, knee ligament reconstructions, meniscal repairs, and cartilage restoration. Minimally invasive joint resurfacing and reconstructions are reserved for more arthritic patients who cannot achieve their goals through arthroscopic and/or non-operative treatment. Dr. Buchalter is also one of the mid-Atlantic region’s few orthopedic surgeons skilled in performing hip arthroscopy for labral tears and femoral acetabular impingement. After receiving his medical degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, Dr. Buchalter completed his residency at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and his fellowship at the Southern California Orthopedic Institute. He is the first and only surgeon to perform hip arthroscopy at GBMC.
