GBMC Announces Nurse Leadership Updates  

BALTIMORE, Md. – July 1, 2008 –      Greater Baltimore Medical Center announces several additions and changes in nursing leadership.

Cindy Ellis. RN, BSN, of Bel Air, has accepted the position of RN Special Projects, where she will facilitate ongoing informative projects within nursing.  Ellis formerly was a staff nurse on the Medical Intensive Care Unit and has worked at GBMC for the past five-and-a-half years.  

Genia Friia, RN, BSN, MA, CMSRN, of Millersville, has joined GBMC as clinical manager of Unit 46 - Gynecology.  Friia previously served as a nurse educator at Baltimore Washington Medical Center. Friia earned both a bachelor of science degree in nursing and a master’s of management with a concentration in healthcare administration from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland and received medical surgical nurse certification through the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses.

Deborah Jacobson, RN, MHA, CNOR, CHL, CNA, of Fallston, has been named administrative director of surgical services and invasive procedures, where she will be responsible for administrative and clinical oversight of those areas. Jacobson comes to GBMC with many years of administrative and clinical experience from Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, N.J., where she was the assistant vice president for the division of perioperative services.

Sam Jones, RN, of Pasadena, has joined GBMC as clinical manager of the Medical/Orthopedic Surgery Unit. Jones, responsible for the operation and management of the unit, has 10 years of nursing experience at Baltimore Washington Medical Center.

Kathy Tracey, RN, BSN, MS, of Timonium, has been named administrative director for medical/surgical units. Tracey has been with GBMC for 20 years in various nursing roles, most recently serving as the clinical nurse manager for the med/psych unit.   Tracey earned a bachelor of science in nursing degree from the University of Maryland and a master’s of science degree from the Johns Hopkins University.
